Nemo was the last snowstorm to blanket New York City in 6-inch snow. I stayed home all day and night while the snow piled up outside the house. When I woke up the next morning, the entire city was covered in snow. Cars were caged in ice. People were shoveling snow off their driveways. Kids were having snowball fights and building snowmen in their front yards.
I took my camera and boarded the subway to Central Park. It was a huge winter wonderland! Branches were laden with snow, slippery ice patches littered the roads and what used to be lakes were now solid slates of ice. People were snowboarding off snow-covered hills and a crazy couple even took it to the next level by snowboarding down a steep flight of stairs.
That sunny, very cold afternoon, as people flocked to Central Park to witness the aftermath of the snowstorm, I had the privilege to sink my feet into 6 inches of snow and photograph a frozen lake,
For the first time, I was in an actual winter wonderland. And it felt awesome!
